Intelligent software,
crafted for everyday life.
We build small, focused, AI‑powered tools that take the friction out of ordinary days — automating what repeats, and making assistants that stay out of the way. Complicated technology, turned quiet and dependable, so your time and your attention come back to you.
How we work
Four rules we do not bend.
Privacy
First, not eventually. What happens on your device stays on your device — unless you decide otherwise.
Purpose-built
Small, sharp tools aimed at specific, real-world problems. Not feature lists.
Quiet intelligence
AI that does its best work in the background, and never asks for applause.
Crafted to last
Clean interfaces, engineered for speed, privacy and simplicity.
Who we are
A very small workshop in Sydney.
The Owlery Works is a registered Australian business making software for people who would rather their tools did not talk about them behind their back.
The name
An owlery is where the owls are kept. Ours is nocturnal, quiet, and has better night vision than you do — which is roughly the brief for the software as well: awake while you are not, saying nothing unless it has something worth saying.
Why on-device, specifically
Because it is the only version of a privacy promise that does not depend on us keeping it. A policy can be rewritten, a company can be sold, a server can be subpoenaed or breached. A model running on your phone with the network switched off has none of those failure modes — the guarantee is a property of where the code runs, not of how trustworthy we happen to be this year.
It costs us things. On-device models are smaller, some features are simply not possible, and we cannot see a single crash we were not told about. We think that is the right trade, and we would rather say so plainly than pretend there is no trade at all.
Getting hold of us
Through the support form, which is the only channel there is. You do not need to give us an email address to use it — you can take a case number instead and look up the reply yourself.
