Convert Markdown to a Word document on an iPhone or iPad.

The steps

1. Add the file. Bindery opens the system document picker, so you can pick a .md file from Files, iCloud Drive, or any other provider your phone shows there. Add several and they are joined, in the order you set.
2. Choose the format. Word.
3. Tap Convert. The whole conversion runs on the device; a network makes no difference to it.
4. Share it, or save it to Files. From here on it is an ordinary document that any other app can open.

What you get

• Headings that Word treats as headings, so the navigation pane, the outline view and the contents field all work.
• A real table of contents field, not typed text: Word fills it when it opens the file and updates it as the document changes.
• A page break between chapters when you add several files, in the order you set.
• Diagrams and equations drawn in, and code with its syntax colouring kept.

If the contents come out empty

The file asks Word to fill the contents field on opening. Some versions of Word ask you first: say yes. If it still shows nothing, select the contents and update the field. The headings are there; the field only needs running.

Nothing you convert leaves the phone

The converter is inside the app and works with the network off. A draft contract or an unpublished chapter never touches a server; the privacy policy says the rest.
